Twelve South releases new magnetic PowerCapsule with cactus leather inlay and dual charging

Today Twelve South is getting into the portable charging game again with its new PowerCapsule. The new MagSafe-ready power bank lives up to Twelve South’s special design touch that includes a cactus-based leather inlay and will be available for purchase today in either 5,000mAh or 10,000mAh capacities.

Twelve South describes its new PowerCapsule as “An ultra-slim magnetic power bank designed for everyday carry.” Although I’m not sure that the whole thing is ultra-slim, it looks competitive this time and I can appreciate the high quality here – Twelve uses a satin-finished zinc alloy frame with a cactus-based soft-touch inlay (I think this is a kind of leather-like material).

The PowerCapsule comes in capacities of 5,000 and 10,000mAh and supports charging in two ways: wireless or wired via USB-C, and pass-through action so you can charge the phone while charging the internal battery at the same time.

I think in the end, if we just look at the Qi2 certified unit with wireless charging up to 15W, this is just another power bank. The real standout feature here has to be the look and feel:
