You can watch a ‘Video Overview’ of your NotebookLM Android review now, and more

What you need to know
- The NotebookLM app on Android and iOS is reportedly receiving a Video Overview after waiting for some time.
- Video overviews are AI-generated slideshows, complete with visuals, controls, and more, all about the content that NotebookLM has provided to help you learn and understand.
- The previous update of NotebookLM on mobile brought flashcards and quizzes for people who want to learn new topics.
NotebookLM has been steadily improving how it condenses and delivers heavy research notes to users, and this latest update to Android adds what was missing.
A post by 9to5Google highlights the latest NotebookLM update that has started rolling out to Android and iOS devices, bringing videos. Specifically, this update concerns the arrival of Video Overview on mobile devices. Instead of listening to the information collected on NotebookLM or reading it, users can have the AI generate a video based on the content they provide.
Video overviews are basically AI-generated slideshows with playback controls, visuals, and more.
The publication also saw an update to NotebookLM’s Slide Deck in this mobile-specific update, too. Google offers users a way to “choose between formats,” such as Detailed and Presenter. The former is reportedly designed for “self-taught” users, while the latter offers “clean slides with key talking points, designed to support you while you speak.”
An output language and the ability to add custom information to create “high-level framing” or “audience targeting” are mentioned. The update concludes with the addition of an Infographic app feature. Now, users can do customizations similar to what is available in its PC version. Such options include orientation changes (Landscape, portrait, etc.), which sources to use, and more.
It’s like a digital notebook(lm)
Among the many updates that NotebookLM has received over the years, Google’s November patch for mobile looks to help you check your information. Learning looks new on NotebookLM, as Google drops AI-generated flashcards and quizzes. The AI will use the information and data you have provided, which may be related to the topic you are reading. However, users can change things up by changing the topic, difficulty, and size of flashcards and questions.
This feature was previously only available in its web version in September.
Android Central Take
Audio Overview was already a great addition to AI-generated voiceovers, but Video Overview took that in a different direction. NotebookLM is designed to help users cut through dense, research-heavy topics, and study, which we’ve seen it head towards. If I have to understand a new topic with a little depth, there are times when watching and listening is much easier than reading a long text.
