How my Galaxy Watch Ultra customization evolved into my lifestyle

I’ve always enjoyed customizing the watch faces on Galaxy Watches. Previously, my focus was on a good-looking watch face that also provides quick access to basic information and health data. I usually use battery status issues, daily task goals, and weather, and a few app shortcuts to speed things up.

Over the past few months, that trend has slowly changed, especially after upgrading to the Galaxy Watch Ultra. In addition to steps and exercise, I started tracking my daily calorie intake and water consumption closely.

I try not to exceed my daily goal of 1,800 kilocalories and I aim to drink at least 3 liters of water every day. I have also started using Samsung Wallet more often to make payments. These changes have pushed me to rethink how my watch faces are set up.

When I use information-dense watch faces like Circle Dashboard, Daily Dashboard, Info Board, Ultra Analog, and Ultra Info Board, I add battery issues, calorie consumption, daily activity, date, Samsung Wallet, sleep, steps, and water intake. This setup allows me to see everything important to me at a glance, without needing to open individual apps in the app drawer.

For a watch face that offers few complex spaces, I keep things simple. This face usually shows the battery level, calorie intake, date, and water consumption. Even with this minimal setup, I can still access Samsung Wallet quickly by long-pressing the back button, so I feel like I’m losing a lot of functionality.

I also pay attention to how information is presented visually. For issues placed at the edges of the screen, I prefer to use graph-style indicators for battery, calorie intake, steps, and water intake, as the progress-based visuals are easier to understand at a glance.

I feel like Samsung missed an opportunity with the Sleep problem. It would be a visual experience if it showed sleep duration as a progress graph, showing how much sleep I got compared to my sleep target.

Buttons optimized to provide quick access to workout and smart home controls

I also changed the way the hardware buttons are customizable to better match my daily routine.

The quick button on the Galaxy Watch Ultra has greatly expanded my customization options. It provides quick access to the features I care about the most, without relying entirely on touch or on-screen shortcuts. Previous Galaxy Watches I’ve used, like the Galaxy Watch 4, didn’t include this extra hardware button, limiting how quickly I could jump to key features.

The Quick Button is set to start tracking workouts with a double press, making it easy to start logging exercises. Double-pressing the home button launches Google Home, while long-pressing it opens Gemini for general questions or to start a timer.

Overall, customizing my watch has evolved from casual use to a more health-focused setup and payment compatibility. The Galaxy Watch Ultra, with its extra button, makes it easy to create a configuration that supports my current lifestyle and priorities.
