The update is available for iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X models, and will allow these devices to make calls to emergency services in Australia. Apple’s release notes say that iOS 16.7.14 fixes a mobile network issue that prevented emergency calls.<\/p>\n
After Apple released iOS 16.7.13 last week, it became clear that the software had disrupted emergency calls in Australia, which had been a problem since December. Apple released an update, but not until some people have already downloaded it.<\/p>\n
Last Thursday, Apple released a carrier settings update for Telstra customers in Australia that temporarily fixed the problem by adjusting network-related settings.<\/p>\n
Australian mobile network operators have been improving emergency calling support on their networks, which has resulted in some older iPhones not being able to connect to emergency services in some cases.
